Privacy Policy

How airWORK aviation media processes data for our websites and mobile apps (smartCHECK, iEFIS, and related products).

This policy covers our marketing website for apps, and the mobile applications smartCHECK and iEFIS (including Pro / Light / beta variants) on iOS and Android, as well as related Mac tools where applicable.

2. Apps covered

3. Data we process in the apps

3.1 Data on your device (typically local)

  • Checklists, aircraft profiles, preferences, documents you import — stored on device to provide the app’s features.
  • Location (when you grant permission) — used for flight-phase context, nearest airport, map, weather overlays, and elevation-related features. We do not sell location data.
  • Motion / attitude sensors (when you grant permission) — used for attitude display and related instrumentation (especially iEFIS).
  • Optional flight session logs (where enabled) — may include GPS samples and related sensor/event streams stored locally or in user-exportable archives.

3.2 Account & cloud

  • Account identifiers (e.g. email) when you sign in to airWORK to sync or share subscription access across apps.
  • Authentication / backend services may be provided by Google Firebase or similar infrastructure under our control or contract.

3.3 Purchases & subscriptions

  • In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play). We receive subscription status via Apple/Google and, where used, RevenueCat to unlock entitlements. We do not receive your full payment card number.

3.4 Maps, weather & third-party SDKs

  • Map display may use Mapbox or comparable map providers; they may process technical data such as IP address and approximate location needed to render tiles.
  • Weather / radar / METAR-TAF features may query third-party weather data providers when you use those features.
  • Crash / diagnostics (if enabled in a build) may send device model, OS version, and crash stacks to help us fix bugs. We configure these tools to minimize personal data.

4. Website

When you visit this site, our hosting provider (e.g. Netlify) processes server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) for security and delivery. We do not use advertising cookies on this apps site. If we add analytics later, we will update this policy and obtain consent where required.

5. Purposes & legal bases (GDPR)

  • Contract / requested service (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — providing app features you request, subscriptions, support.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — optional permissions (location, motion, notifications) and any marketing email.
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — securing our services, understanding crash rates, improving reliability (balanced against your rights).
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — tax and commercial record-keeping.

6. Sharing

We share data only with processors and platforms needed to run the service (Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Firebase, map/weather providers, hosting). We do not sell personal data. Transfers outside the EEA rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses where required.

7. Retention

Device data remains until you delete it or uninstall the app. Account data is kept while the account is active and deleted or anonymized after a verified deletion request, subject to legal retention. Server logs are typically rotated within weeks unless needed for security investigation.

8. Your rights

Under GDPR you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and object to certain processing. You may withdraw consent at any time (e.g. by disabling permissions in system settings). Contact contact@airwork.biz. You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Bavaria: Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht).

9. Children

Our apps are intended for pilots and aviation professionals. They are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. Safety notice

Our apps are aids for training and situational awareness. They are not certified avionics and do not replace approved aircraft systems or official documentation.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date above will change when we do. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
